Margaret Becker

Margaret Becker founded the Leinster Printmaking Studio in Clane 1998. Up to this time Margaret had a wide and varied life within the world of art. After graduating from NCAD in 1960 she worked in 'An Toir Gloinne' with stained glass and shared a studio with the artist Patrick Pye in Dublin. After marrying in 1964 she moved to Scotland but returned to Ireland in 1966 and joined the Graphic Studio in Dublin in 1972. 

Margaret has won many awards and has worked on commissions for stained glass windows all over Ireland and Europe., She won the Biennale prize for print in Listowel during writers week was awarded first prize for her stained glass panel celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Messenger Magazine.

Margaret is currently working from the Leinster Printmaking Studio in Clane and during the past years has initiated a collaboration with Welsh printmakers, resulting with an exhibition in the Riverbank Art Center in Newbridge. Co. Kildare. She is also involved in collaboration with the Asian Dance Academy on Indian and Irish culture opening in Newbridge which travelled to Tipperary Art Center and the Ulster Museum in Belfast. During the Eigse Festival in Carlow this summer Margaret introduced an exhibition on the BOG, with the help of Michael Jacobs, and it is currently touring libraries in Kildare and Kilkenny.

Margarets work is currently part of print exhibitions in Canada, Scotland and Hong Kong.
